FraserStones was now born. That young Lad that had sat up until 3-4am teaching himself as much as he could to achieve his goal then working 10hr days in his Management based role, studied away at his Cert IV Retail Management, satisfied the needs of his home life and 2 young boys from a previous relationship on their visting days with their 'Dad' was me - Powered entirely by a group of old men who really didn't think that day. I aimed for the moon, completely overshot my mark and almost wound up in another Galaxy. The realisation I'd achieved my goal and more - built a viable little business with great potential to grow into something with no known bounds.

Every Story Starts With...... Not Much but a fistful of Hopes and Dreams.

One Day a 30 something year old man walks into a local Lapidary Club with a small fistful of Rocks he hoped to learn how to cut, polish and maybe one day - sell them to buy some nicer rocks (He had always enjoyed Dinosaurs, Fossils, Geology and the like. At one point possessing an Impressive little collection for a young lad losing it as he grew to a busy young teen. But after a wayward adolescence - he had found that connection again ) Eventually hoping to buy his newfound love a sparkling ring to re-enforce his commitment to showing her what it would be like to smile every day when one wakes up for the rest of their lives together.

He is Welcomed by a group of a dozen or so seniors all furiously polishing away of which one takes the time to introduce himself and they engage in small talk about the club, its members, its costs etc upon which he decides to show this old fella the stones he'd taken in,  and explains his hopes to use these stones to eventually ask his love to marry him......... They laughed at the lad, as others around him had began to eavesdrop in the conversation and jestly told him he was dreaming, either that or be saving for a bloody long time!!! He was promptly handed a Membership Form and left to look around.

The Young Lad felt a little offended by their lack of care to accomodate his re-ignited desires and centred on one man who had not lifted his head once to partake in the humour. These pair spent a good hour chatting away about the old silversmithers love for Opal, its fires, its pitfalls and its applications in Jewellery. This restored a little hope in the young lad, and he left that day - disheartened he felt he would have to find another way but most of all - determined and motivated to achieve his goal knowing it was the only way he'd be able to do it otherwise.

It took the Lad 7 Months, reading, watching videos, studying pictures of rough and finished stones on ebay and other sites and he had gradually built his small handful of Rocks into 22 Varieties of Lower Grade Rough and a Small Cache of Cut Stones. Losing money here, just making it back there, getting a lucky break sometimes. Eventually he tried his luck on some cheap potchy Lightning Ridge Rough. Found a couple of stones here and there amongst the potch and buggered them trying to make sense of how the stones and their beautiful colours worked in the light leaving one little stone with a glimmer of red hope......... It eventually turned out a nice little green blue and red solid on a coal black solid base around the 2.8ct mark. This stone turned in a $300 Ebay sale and literally changed that Lads life! He'd finally stowed enough money over time to begin ring shopping and finally settled on his prize (Pictured). The only trouble was - the business began returning, enquiries returns and customers still wanted product!!!

THE STORY OF FRASERSTONES.

I'd fallen under the age old spell of Australian Opal and it's dazzling colours and ability to mesmerise even a small child - captivating their minds entirely with its fire. I began working away practising, watching videos and reading again and taught myself to cut and polish to a mirror glassy finish, how to shape and read colour, to minimise my precious wastage, how to set small Cabochrons into Rings and polish the Rings to a flawless shine. I'd finally found my calling. Almost a year on Im now proud to say I started the Aussie Underdog, and while I've a long way to go I've realised the Power hidden in these gorgeous Stones and Thank Them for changing my life. I've become more aware of myself and my now Fiance (Yes! She Did Say Yes!!!) and many other aspects of my life including my two Boys. And my future looks brighter and exciting every day. I aim to see myself in time a quality Jeweller, no no wait - I love the ring of 'Craftsman' better.

Happy Cutting, Setting - Whatever it is that makes You at One :)
